Key West Marlin Tournament Rules

General Rules and Captains’ Meeting Notice

The Key West Marlin Tournament is a multi‑day offshore event in the Lower Keys featuring competitive billfish releases and a fun fish division for dolphin, wahoo, and tuna. Tournament rules, including dates, fishing times, boundaries, scoring, eligibility, and documentation requirements, are set each year and reviewed at the Captains’ Meeting. Every captain, angler, and crew member is responsible for understanding the current tournament rules before fishing.

The rules describe how the tournament is structured, which species are eligible, how points are awarded, and how releases and weigh‑ins are validated, as well as how the Tournament Committee handles protests and final decisions.
