FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

$250,000 Awaits Anglers in Drambuie Key West Marlin Tournament

Anglers are invited to compete for $250,000 in available cash prizes in the 2006 Drambuie Key West Marlin Tournament, scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday, July 19-22, in Florida Keys waters. The early entry deadline is June 15.

Early registration is encouraged, since anglers from the first 75 boats to register can compete for a guaranteed $100,000 for the heaviest marlin weighed in at over 784 pounds.

Teams earning the most points for blue marlin, white marlin, and spearfish will share $40,000 in cash. The first-place team earns $25,000, while second- and third-place prizes are $10,000 and $5,000 respectively. All marlin must be tagged and released unless they exceed 600 pounds.

Each team can also enter one fun fish (sailfish, dolphin, tuna or wahoo) per day to add to the overall point total.

Boats entered in the marlin division can pay an additional fee to compete for $10,000 cash to be awarded in the fun fish division. Cash prizes will be presented for the six largest dolphin, three largest tuna (yellowfin, blackfin and skipjack), and three largest wahoo caught.

The first 75 anglers entered in the fun fish division can also vie for a $100,000 prize awarded for the heaviest dolphin weighing more than 64 pounds.

The tournament is to kick off Wednesday, July 19, with a final registration, captains' meeting and auction at the Conch Republic Seafood Co., 631 Greene St.

A boat entry fee of $1,200 ($1,500 after June 15) allows two anglers to compete in the marlin division of the 2006 tournament, as well as attend social events and the awards banquet. Participants in the marlin division can compete in the fun fish division for an additional per-boat entry fee of $300.

There is no maximum number of anglers per boat; additional anglers over two can fish for a fee of $200 apiece, which includes social privileges. Additional social tickets are priced at $100 apiece.
